Extreme Heat Alert During Hajj

Saudi Arabia has issued a heat warning for Hajj pilgrims as temperatures in Mecca are expected to rise sharply during the pilgrimage season. Officials advised pilgrims to avoid direct sunlight and stay indoors during peak afternoon hours.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah urged visitors to drink plenty of water, use umbrellas, and remain in shaded or air-conditioned areas between 10 AM and 4 PM. Extra cooling systems, mist fans, and heat-control arrangements have also been installed at major pilgrimage sites.

Authorities warned that extreme heat and humidity could create serious health risks, especially for elderly pilgrims. Movement schedules and transport systems around Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah are being closely managed to ensure safety during Hajj 2026.
